INTRODUCTION

ASCOFILL is a specially modified single component, high strength, non-shrink crack filling powder for repairing of plaster, concrete cracks.

COVERAGE

Approximately 60 RFT/ Kg for 5 mm X 5 mm crack. All coverage rates given are theoretical and subject to actual site conditions. We recommend trial areas are done to establish practical consumption, particularly for primers.

SHELF LIFE

12 months from production date, if stored in original, unopened packaging in places protected from moisture, sun exposure and frost.

 

APPLICATION PROCEDURE

SURFACE PREPARATION

All surfaces must be clean and structurally sound. Oil and grease must be removed. Remove enamel paint in poor condition with all-purpose paint remover. Open cracks sufficiently, to allow the filler to be pressed into position.

MIXING

Sprinkle 1 Kg ASCOFILL slowly into 0.35 L of clean water, stirring constantly until a smooth paste-like consistency is achieved.

APPLICATION

  1. i. Open the cracks in form a “V” groove with saw cut or chiseled. The grooves should be cleaned with blower. Cracks and holes should be sprinkled with clean water before applying ASCOFILL.
  2. ii. Fill the cracks and holes using a scraper or putty knife.
  1. iii. Apply to a depth, not exceeding 6 mm. For deeper cracks, holes, apply in 6 mm layers after each layer has been allowed to dry.
  2. iv. Even out the crack filler level with the surrounding surface.
  3. v. Allow to dry for at least 4 hours (drying times may be longer in cold or wet weather) before sanding, drilling or painting. Apply an ASCOFLEX II as undercoat before painting.

CURING

Curing is essential for all cementitious products to prevent possible shrinkage cracks and ensure, the performance characteristics of the product are achieved.
