Ascoguard Prime


ASCOGUARD PRIME is an industrial grade permanent elastomeric coating membrane which is used as a unique waterproof membrane and thermal barrier. ASCOGUARD PRIME is an acrylic based, brush/roller applied liquid, which cures by forming a seamless rubber membrane specially designed to seal the entire roofs, walls and floors. ASCOGUARD PRIME is a qualified reflective product that will help to reduce building temperatures. ASCOGUARD PRIME offers high tensile strength and elongation and is virtually undamaged by extended exposure to solar ultraviolet energy. ASCOGUARD PRIME provides the benefits of a durable sheet membrane with the unique feature of a multi-layer seamless finish, eliminating joints, overlaps and other risk points associated with welding and abutting traditional sheet membrane systems. It is available in White (for maximum reflectivity) and custom tinting is available on request.

12 months from production date, if stored in original, unopened packaging in places protected from moisture, sun exposure and frost.




All surfaces must be clean, dry and free from any contaminates such as dust, oil, wax, grease, curing agents or other substances that may affect adhesion performance. Building debris such as off cuts, sawdust, nails, screws, plaster, wood etc., must be thoroughly cleaned with the help of wire brush - vacuum cleaner - damp sponge.
Note: If applying over existing tiles, various preparation methods are used that depend on surface and application. Do not apply over any deteriorating substrates. Ensure that new concrete slab is fully cured. Ensure that screeds have cured, normally after 7 days depending on screed thickness and temperatures. Ensure waterproof membranes have cured, minimum 24 – 48 hours after application.


Porous Substrates: Prime with ASCOGUARD using brush or roller. Allow primer to reach a touch dry film prior to apply. Do not over dilute primer. Mix 1 part of primer to 2/3 parts clean water. Extremely porous surfaces may require second coat.


Does not require water/ cement or anything else. It is ready to use.


ASCOGUARD PRIME is pre-mixed and ready to use. It may be applied by brush or paint roller.

  1. Prior applying to the general surface area, pre-treat all cracks, joints, corners and coves first, followed by a generous coat of ASCOGUARD PRIME approximately 10 cm (4”) to each side of joint or surface.
  2. Allow to touch dry and then apply a second coat of ASCOGUARD PRIME to the same area, and allow to dry. 
  3. Once pre-treated areas are dry, apply a generous coat of ASCOGUARD PRIME to entire surface, included pretreated cracks, joints, coves, and allow to dry.
  4. DO NOT skimp on initial coat of ASCOGUARD PRIME.
  5. Allow to dry to the touch dry , before applying a final coat to entire surface.
  6. Final dry thickness of first and second coats should be a minimum of 0.5 – 0.75 mm.
  7. Inspect entire area and, if required, reapply on required areas, and allow it to dry.


Optimum performance level is reached after 24 hours of curing.
