Ascoshield PU

INTRODUCTION

ASCOSHIELD PU is a specially formulated liquid applied, highly permanent elastic, cold applied and cold curing, water based, crack bridging polyurethane membrane used for long-lasting waterproofing. When ASCOSHIELD PU is applied on substrate, it forms a hydrophobic, 100 % waterproofing, permanent elastic, seamless membrane without joints or leak possibilities. It can be applied on old and new structure for a long term basis.

RECOMMENDED APPLICATIONS

WATERPROOFING of slope & flat roofs.
WATERPROOFING of balconies terraces
New and Existing Roofs & Commercial Box Gutters
Industrial/Farming Sheds/Storages
ideal for Bathrooms, showers, swimming pool etc
WATERPROOFING of wet areas
Protection of Concrete
Protection of drywall & cement boards
Warehouse, Canal, Dam, Basement, Overhead Tank etc.
Structures requiring an effective barrier to thermal condition

COVERAGE

Approx. 3.5 – 4.5 m²/kg per coat. This coverage is based on application by roller/ brush onto a smooth surface in optimum conditions. Factors like surface porosity, temperature and application method can alter consumption.

PACKAGING

Available in 5 Kg and 20 Kg pail

STORAGE

9 months from production date, if stored in original, unopened packaging in places protected from moisture, sun exposure and frost.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE

SURFACE PREPARATION

The substrate must be clean, dry, sound and free of all contamination such as dirt, oil, grease, and coatings etc. which hinder adhesion.
Weak concrete/ mortar must be removed and surface defects such as blowholes and voids must be fully exposed. Concrete must be allowed to cure for 28 days and cement render and cement screeds must be allowed to cure for 7 days prior to the application of ASCOSHIELD PU.
All dust, loose and friable material must be completely removed from all surfaces before application of the product, preferably by brush and/ or vacuum.

PRIMING

Porous Substrates: Prime with ASCOPRIME PU using by brush or roller. Allow primer to reach a touch dry film prior to apply. Extremely porous surfaces may require second coat.

MIXING

ASCOSHIELD PU waterproofing membrane must be thoroughly mixed for 3 minutes in order to achieve a homogenous mix using a low speed electric stirrer (300 - 400 rpm) or other suitable equipment.

APPLICATION METHOD

ASCOSHIELD PU is pre-mixed and ready to use.
  1. ASCOSHIELD PU may be applied by brush or paint roller. Prior to applying to general surface area, pre-treat all cracks, joints, corners and coves.
  2. Apply a generous coat of ASCOSHIELD PU approximately 10 cm (4”) to each side of joint or surface.
  3. Allow to dry to the touch dry and then apply a second coat of ASCOSHIELD PU to same area, again allowing to dry.
  4. Once pre-treated areas are dry, apply a generous coat of ASCOSHIELD PU to entire surface, included pre-treated cracks, joints, and coves, and allow to dry. DO NOT skimp on initial coat of ASCOSHIELD PU.
  5. Allow to touch dry, before applying a final coat to entire surface. Final dry thickness of first and second coats should be a minimum of 0.5 – 0.75 mm. Inspect entire area and, if required, reapply on required areas, and allow it to dry.

CURING

Optimum performance level is reached after 24 hours of curing.
